On June 19, 2023, approximately 110 people gathered at the Stadthaus in Halle (Saale) to discuss the recruitment, training, and integration of skilled workers from abroad with experts and other companies. The event was hosted by the Network for a Welcoming Culture and Skilled Worker Recruitment, the City of Halle (Saale), and the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt.
A key insight was that the recruitment of foreign skilled workers works best when approached holistically. Both the workforce and the families of these workers should be included. Equally important is long-term human resources development, in which skilled workers are continuously supported and can further develop their skills in line with their needs. And one more thing became clear that afternoon: Foreign skilled workers have become an integral part of Saxony-Anhalt and represent enormous potential for local companies. For all the aspects that need to be considered when employing skilled workers from abroad, there are numerous support services available in Saxony-Anhalt for both companies and skilled workers.
Many of these support services were present at the event and were on hand to offer advice to interested companies. We thank all participants and contributors for coming and for their contributions!
