A welcoming culture is a central theme in the field of integration. On December 16, 2025, the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt hosted an online seminar titled “Between Skilled Labor Shortages and Diversity – Perspectives on a Culture of Welcome in Eastern Germany” to facilitate a joint discussion on the topic. The seminar was aimed at individuals working in migration-related fields, whether as full-time employees or volunteers. With 45 participants, the event was well attended.
At the start, Kristina Korte from Minor – Wissenschaft Gesellschaft presented the results of recent surveys on the topic in Saxony-Anhalt. Kerstin Mogdans, coordinator of the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt, then spoke about a welcoming culture in the workplace and presented various approaches and opportunities for companies to help international skilled workers settle in well and integrate them long-term. This was followed by a lively discussion in which participants exchanged experiences and explored further perspectives.
