A culture of welcome is a central theme in the field of integration. On December 16, 2025, the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt hosted an online seminar titled “Between Skilled Labor Shortages and Diversity—Perspectives on a Culture of Welcome in Eastern Germany” to facilitate a joint discussion on the topic. The seminar was aimed at people working in migration-related fields, whether full-time or as volunteers. With 45 participants, the event was well attended.
To begin, Kristina Korte from Minor – Wissenschaft Gesellschaft presented the results of recent surveys on the topic in Saxony-Anhalt. Kerstin Mogdans, coordinator of the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt, then spoke about a welcoming culture in the workplace and presented various approaches and opportunities for companies to help international skilled workers settle in smoothly and integrate them over the long term. This was followed by a lively discussion in which participants exchanged experiences and explored different perspectives.
