From the gut

The owners of the fitness and health academy, Katina Hacker and Thilo Reinsch, are both sports scientists. "We are experts in our field. But we first had to learn what it means to manage employees ourselves. In the beginning, we made a lot of decisions based on gut instinct," recalls Katina Hacker. She later took part in coaching training. The focus of her management style is to encourage and challenge employees, to make them take responsibility by finding solutions together. "Because then everyone is enthusiastic about the idea."

Recognition of being different

A high level of communication plays a crucial role in conveying visions, recognizing employees' needs and building trust. There are regular team meetings and progress dialogs. The company also relies on a culture of making mistakes. Mistakes are allowed to be made. "The employee acted to the best of their knowledge. It is important to find the cause of the mistake afterwards. Was it due to unclear communication or was it a mental error? If we tackle the issue openly and together, we can develop ourselves and our company together," explains Katina Hacker. The "recognition of otherness" is another building block by deliberately bringing people with different values and strengths together in the team in order to use everyone's potential and bundle it for the company. "We are a small team of eleven employees. Everyone has a different perspective. On the one hand, this means ideas, but on the other hand, it also requires constant communication in order to bring them together successfully for us."

Manageable and clear

But the question always remains: are these the right approaches for a good corporate culture? Do my employees feel comfortable and enjoy working here? When Katina Hacker heard about the Values ^Network© analysis tool, she was immediately interested. "I wanted to find out whether my perception matched the evaluations after the survey. The ^Werteetz© survey is very easy to use and the evaluation is clear". For example, the employees indicated that they would like more further training again. A training and development plan is being drawn up for 2020.

Our quality standard is not to let up

The perception fits. "We are very pleased that our assessment is reflected similarly by our employees, despite their diversity." In May 2019, the company was awarded the state seal of approval "The employee-oriented company - I feel good here". But the company does not want to rest on its laurels. "Our quality standard is not to let up. The challenge is to carry out the survey again in a year's time."
