Adrian Hysi came to Germany in 2018 and had already worked as an electronics technician for building services engineering in his home country. He wanted to pursue the same profession here and initially started as an "assistant electrician." While searching for ways to have his professional experience recognized, he learned about the validation process.
He initially registered with the HWK Halle, but realized that the profession of "industrial electrician" was a better fit for his skills. He therefore decided to undergo a validation procedure at the IHK Halle-Dessau. After discussions with the chamber employee and the professional experts, Adrian Hysi went into the external assessment for the profession of "industrial electrician" with a specialization in industrial engineering with renewed confidence. Stadtwerke Halle GmbH supported the external assessment by providing suitable premises at SWH. "The training center at Stadtwerke Halle is ideally equipped to assess the professional skills of the participants. We are therefore very grateful that we can use it for our external assessments," said the project manager at the IHK Halle-Dessau.
Mr. Hysi did not achieve his desired result straight away. He therefore took the opportunity to learn the skills he was lacking and demonstrate them in a second external assessment. Each participant is given a one-time opportunity to go through the process a second time if they acquire the missing skills between the two assessments. Following the second assessment, Mr. Hysi received a certificate confirming that he has the same skills as people with formal vocational training.
"The process has opened up many career opportunities for me. My employer has given me more responsibility, I am now involved in planning, and I am receiving a better salary as a result," the proud participant tells us.
Motivated by the process, Mr. Hysi would like to continue his education in solar technology. The state initiative "Fachkraft im Fokus" (Focus on Skilled Workers) of the state of Saxony-Anhalt provided advice on funding opportunities for such further training. A funding program was found that reimburses the participant for a significant portion of the further training costs. Adrian Hysi has already taken advantage of the free consultation and is now working with Claudia Bär, regional advisor for skilled workers at the state initiative "Fachkraft im Fokus," to take all the next steps!

The validation process is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. For more information, visit www.validierungsverfahren.de/validierungsverfahren.
