Aybaniz Garadzhaeva speaks fluent Russian and Ukrainian and, with her two degrees in education, is highly sought after in the German education system. The Ukrainian wants to build a future for her family in Saxony-Anhalt. She sees Magdeburg as a good place to find a new home. And she has regained her courage, is confident, and is looking ahead. "I would also like to stay here and establish myself professionally," says Aybaniz, looking forward to her first lesson in Germany.
The teacher and social pedagogue from Kharkiv never expected to have to leave her home and start a new life in another country. The young mother loves her job and working with students in her home country, Ukraine. With the outbreak of war, her entire life changed. For a long time, the ambitious woman tried to keep teaching at her school in order to maintain a sense of normality. But then it became impossible. When the windows of the school shattered before her eyes due to an explosion, she too lost all strength. Together with her children, she embarked on a traumatic 30-hour journey to Germany. Via Berlin, the frightened family first arrives in Hanover, then back to Berlin, and finally to Saxony-Anhalt.
In Magdeburg, Aybaniz Garadzhaeva contacts the state initiative Fachkraft im Fokus (Focus on Skilled Workers) on a recommendation and meets our regional advisor at the WelcomeCenter, Nataliya Detka. The detailed and very emotional conversation between the two women in their native language gives Aybaniz a sense of security. She quickly gains confidence in our empathetic and knowledgeable regional advisor. Nataliya Detka explains the order of priority of the measures to be taken and immediately contacts the State Education Authority. In no time at all, all the important documents are compiled and sent to the authority. Now Aybaniz Garadzhaeva can hardly wait for their response and her new career start in Saxony-Anhalt.
